In protest against “Autonomous Administration” curriculum | School strike in Manbij continues for third week with shops closed

Aleppo province: Schools in Manbij city continue to strike for the third consecutive week, in protest against the “Autonomous Administration” imposing its curriculum instead of the curriculum of the regime and UNICEF, as educational institutions refrain from receiving students, which leads to thousands of students being deprived of education.
Residents described the “Autonomous Administration” curriculum as containing violations of Islamic values, customs and morals, in addition to the fact that these violations threaten the identity and values of society.
In the context of these protests, all shops were closed in the city market, expressing the residents’ dissatisfaction with the current situation, amid information about the spread of military patrols in the city streets, in an attempt to prevent residents from gathering and holding protest demonstrations.
On October 11, Tens of residents staged a demonstration in Manbij city in eastern Aleppo, demanding the teaching of the earlier curriculum and expressing their rejection of the curriculum set by Autonomous Administration, which is now provided in the city’s schools.
The demonstrators see that the new curriculum does not suit the students, and they have called for reviewing the curriculum and returning to the old curriculum.
According to SOHR sources, a large number of students have been affected by the disruption of education in public schools, where the number of schools affected by the strike has reached 260.
Accordingly, students in the city have faced considerable challenges regarding attaining education.
According to parents’ testimonies, this situation threatens their children, especially since no date was declared for ending this strike and there are no solutions satisfying parents and the Autonomous Administration looming in the horizon still.
