“De-escalation zone” | Eight civilians and combatants killed and wounded since early October
Military operations by regime forces and opposition factions, especially Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham, continued in the “de-escalation zone” in October, where those operations, in the past ten days, included exchange of bombardment, gunfire by snipers and attacks by regime kamikaze drones on civil and military sites and positions near Turkish posts in Idlib and Aleppo countryside. Meanwhile, several kamikaze drones were shot down.
According to SOHR statistics, five persons, including a civilian, were killed and three other civilians, a woman and two children, were injured in eight operations in the “de-escalation zone” in October. The fatalities are distributed as follows:
- One civilian.
- Two regime soldiers.
- Two HTS members.
Since early 2024, SOHR has documented 323 operations in the “de-escalation zone,” including attacks by ground forces, infiltration operations, gunfire by snipers, bombardment, clashes and kamikaze drone attacks, which left 360 combatants and civilians dead. In addition, these operations left over 134 combatants, including a Turkish soldier, and 163 civilians, including seven women and 39 children, injured.
