Following drone attack on track near military headquarters | Iranian-backed militias put on high alert in border areas between Syria and Iraq

Deir Ezzpr province: SOHR activists have reported seeing Iranian-backed militias on high alert in areas on the Syria-Iraq border following the drone attack, which targeted a refrigerated truck yesterday nearby one of their military headquarters in the vicinity of Al-Bokamal city in Deir Ezzor countryside.

The attack left three fatalities: a non-Syrian person, a Syrian person working for Iranian-backed militias and a child.

It is not known so far if the drone belonged to US or Israeli forces, and it is also not known if the truck was carrying weapons or not, where no explosions followed the attack.

It is worth noting that Iranian-backed militias have established military headquarters and stored weapons in residential neighbourhoods; this, in turn, risks the safety and lives of civilians.

SOHR sources also reported that Iranian-backed militias have redeployed troops and moved other militiamen to different headquarters, along with changing the ways of movements of commanders and militiamen using military vehicles and transporting and hiding weapons, fearing repeated attacks.

In addition, Iranian-backed militias continues to entrench their presence in the region through bringing in military reinforcement from Iraq.

East Deir Ezzor countryside has experienced hectic movements by Iranian-backed militias which attempt to maintain their strategic presence in the region, which is known as Tehran Beirut highway.

On the other hand, US forces continue boosting their military bases in SDF-controlled areas, where US forces brought in nearly 150 trucks carrying military equipment and ten cargo planes and helicopters carrying weapons and soldiers from Kurdistan Region of Iraq to bases in Al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor.
