Under torture and medical neglect | Defector from regime forces dies in Saidnaya prison

Daraa province: A family from “Al-Madourah” village east of Daraa received the body of their son who died under torture and medical neglect two days ago.
According to sources, the young man defected from the regime forces and worked within the opposition factions in Daraa. He was arrested on Damascus-Amman road about a year and a half ago and was taken to Saidnaya prison until he passed away.
Since early 2024, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has documented the death of 39 civilians under torture and over poor healthcare in regime prisons and security centres, including a political activist, a university student, a writer, an engineer, an Islamic thinker, a civilian with US nationality and two regime army defectors.
