Targeting missile warehouse | Seven combatants injured including members of Iranian-backed militias due to Israeli raid near Al-Shaairat airport
Homs province: Yesterday evening, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes targeting a missile warehouse belonging to the Lebanese “Hezbollah”, inside a military regiment located about five kilometers away from Al-Shaairat Airport in the south-eastern countryside of Homs, which resulted in the injury of seven combatants, including three members of the Iranian-backed militias, one of whom is in a critical condition. The explosions continued for an entire hour, amid the outbreak of fires in the targeted sites and their complete destruction.
According to SOHR sources, the missiles arrived at the targeted warehouse a few days ago, and the Iranian-backed militias accuse Syrian officers in the regime forces of leaking information and coordinates about the presence of military headquarters and warehouses and the movements of militia leaders and members, to be targeted by Israel. There is a great state of discontent among those militias, especially after the recent repeated Israeli targeting.
In a related context, a Syrian civilian was confirmed dead, as a result of an Israeli drone targeting a car on Damascus-Beirut road near Al-Zabadani area on August 3.
SOHR documented 58 attacks in 2024: 42 airstrikes and 16 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 121 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 178 combatants and injured 103 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:
• 23 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
• 37 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.
• 18 Iraqi persons.
• 44 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.
• 14 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.
• 42 regime soldiers.
In addition, those attacks left 17 civilians, including a little girl and three women, dead and nearly 36 other civilians injured.
The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:
• Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 23 attacks.
• Daraa: 15 attacks.
• Homs: Nine attacks.
• Al-Quneitra: Six attacks.
• Tartus: Three attack.
• Deir Ezzor: One attack.
• Aleppo: Two attacks.
SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
