50 kamikaze drones attack different positions in “de-escalation zone” since early April, bringing the total number of drone attacks since February to 112

112 kamikaze drones (FPV drones) attacked different residential and military positions across the “de-escalation zone” since the beginning of such attacks on February 6.

Those attacks left 25 people dead and 26 others injured in different areas in Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia and Hama countryside.

Here is a monthly breakdown of attacks by kamikaze drones and the casualties they left:

  • February: 15 attacks left 15 members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions dead and at least 13 other persons, including two children and their father, injured.

  • March: 47 attacks left seven fatalities: three civilians and four HTS members, and at least four injured persons: two civilians and two HTS members.

  • April: 50 attacks left three fatalities, including a member of “Ansar Al-Islam” faction and non-Syrian jihadist, and nine injured persons: four HTS members and five civilians, including two children.

The escalating kamikaze drones attacks has hindered the work of many civilians, mainly farmers, shepherds and hunters who work in areas near frontlines with regime forces.

In such attacks, regime forces and their proxy militias use quadcopters drones (FPV drones), modified to fly for farther distances, with RPGs installed to the body of those drones with the aim of inflicting the largest number of casualties on Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in the “de-escalation zone.”
