Old ordnance | Landmine explosion leaves civilian dead in Daraa countryside

Daraa province: A civilian was killed due to the explosion of an old landmine, while he was on agricultural land in Al-Hamra are in Daraa countryside.

 

It is worth noting that the civilian was an employee at Nawa municipality.

 

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 238 civilians, including 20 women and 73 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2023. In addition, over 311  civilians, including 113 children and 14 women, sustained various injuries.

 

The casualties are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Areas controlled by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib: Four fatalities; including a child, and 23 injured civilians, including 16 children and a woman.

 

  • Regime-controlled areas: 194 fatalities, including 44 children and 16 women, and 231 injured civilians, including 58 children and ten women. There are 89 truffle pickers died, including two children and ten women, and 109 others injured.

 

  • “Euphrates Shield” area in east Aleppo countryside: Five fatality, five children, and 11 injured people: a woman and ten children.

 

  • SDF-held areas: 33 fatalities, including 22 children and four women, and 37 injured civilians, including 27 children and a woman. There are two truffle pickers among the fatalities and a little truffle picker among the injured people.

 

  • “Peace Spring” area in north Al-Raqqah countryside: A child and a man were killed and five other persons, including two children, were injured.

 

  • “Olive Branch” area: Four persons, including two women, were injured
