Lebanese border area hit by Syrian missiles
BEIRUT, Lebanon, Feb. 28 (UPI) — The Lebanese Ministry of Information said Friday a town near the border with Syria was hit by three missiles from across the border with no injuries reported.
The ministry’s official National News Agency reported the border town of Brital was hit by three missiles Friday, causing only property damage.
“The army immediately rushed to the targeted location and took the necessary field measures while [a] military expert inspected the area where the rockets exploded,” the report said.
Lebanon’s security has been threatened by civil war raging across the border in Syria. The threat was compounded last year when Hezbollah admitted it had fighters deployed alongside pro-government forces in Syria.

Last week, the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, which has links to al-Qaida, a Sunni group, claimed responsibility for twin bombings near the Iranian Cultural Center in Beirut.
Alaeddine Boroujerdi, speaker of the Iranian Parliament, was quoted by the Daily Star newspaper in Lebanon as saying Friday from Beirut his government wouldn’t trade its “embrace of [Hezbollah] for anything else and this is a solid political policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
