Following Russian escalation | Families displace from areas near frontlines in Idlib and Aleppo countryside

Tens of families from villages and towns near frontlines between Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and regime forces in Idlib and Aleppo countryside have displaced from their areas, fearing military escalation.

Many families have displaced from villages in Jabal Al-Zawiyah, the towns of Al-Bara and Kansafra and the villages of Shenan, Maarzaf and Saan in Idlib countryside and headed to relatively safer camps and residential areas.

While in west Aleppo countryside, which has experienced daily rounds of bombardment, families displaced from the villages of Kafr Taal, Tadil, Al-Qasr, Kafr Ammah and Al-Asous and the outskirts of Al-Atareb and Darat Izza cities.

SOHR sources have reported that this mass displacement comes as a proactive step before the beginning of winter and decrease in temperature, where those people seek to find a place to inhabit and secure their needs of heating supplies.

It is worth noting that finding a house of appropriate rental fees is very difficult, because of the high population and shortage of homes available for rent in relatively-safe areas, so people, who fail to rent a house, have no options but to head to refugee camps.

Russian fighter jets carried out 74 airstrikes in October in the “de-escalation zone,” targeting 19 areas in the following villages and towns:

  • Idlib: Hursh Basinqoul, Hursh Jozif, Hursh Idlib, Al-Bara, the outskirts of Idlib city, Mu’taram, Al-Shatouriyah, Hursh Batanta, Maarrat Masrin, Al-Kandah, Mar’and, Sheikh Sandyan, Kafradin, Ain Al-Zarqa, Darkoush, Kansafra, Ain Larouz and Deir Sonbol.

  • Hama: Al-Qarour and Al-Sarmaniyah in Sahl Al-Ghab.

  • Latakia: Kabanah hills and Al-Ruwaysah in the northern countryside of Latakia.

Russian fighter jets also committed a massacre in October, where ten civilians, including a child, were killed and 30 others, including 14 children, were injured, some seriously, in airstrikes on a sawmill, a furniture workshop and an olive presser on the outskirts of Idlib city.
