Continuing violations | Turkish-backed factions steal and loot 1330 olive trees in Afrin
Aleppo province: “Suqour Al-Shamal” faction stole 400 olive trees in Qizil Basha village, in Bulbul district in Afrin countryside, where the percentage of stolen goods was estimated at about 200 bags of olives. This came after the faction imposed financial royalties of 400 Turkish liras, under the pretext of “guarding the fields”, and 100 USD for the season.
The same faction also imposed financial royalties on the residents of Sharan district in Afrin countryside, in addition to stealing the crop of 200 olive trees in Kamrouk village in Afrin countryside.
In Raju district, members of the Turkish-backed “Al-Sham Corps” faction stole and looted the crop of 565 olive trees in Midan Akbas village, owned by three civilians from the village, amid the inability of the residents to file any complaint against the faction for fear of being killed or arrested.
Meanwhile in Maabatli district, gunmen loyal to the “National Army” factions stole 15 bags of olives in Shekhotko village, after threatening the residents who were guarding their fields to return to their houses.
Moreover, in the districts of Sharan and Jinderes, members of the joint force (Al-Amshat-Al-Hamzat) stole 150 olive trees in Maarsakah village, while “Al-Hamzat” faction cancelled the agencies for olive lands owned by war refugees, and seized them completely.
In Bulbul district, members of “Al-Sultan Murad Division” faction imposed financial royalties of 60% on the olive crop owned by forcibly displaced civilians, amid threats to seize them completely.
In the face of these ongoing violations and transgressions, the authorities controlling the “Olive Branch” area, which is under the control of the Turkish forces and the factions loyal to them, did not intervene to put an end to it and take the demands of the residents into consideration.
