Rif Dimashq | Israeli raids target crossing on Syrian-Lebanese border and air defences thwart drone attack
Rif Dimashq province: The regime’s air defences were able to repel Israeli drones that were trying to carry out attacks on sites in Rif Dimashq, where sounds from the air defences in the skies of the glider airport and Al-Dimas military housing north-west of Rif Dimashq were heard, without the drones being able to carry out attacks.
This morning, the Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes targeting the “illegal” Janta crossing, which connects Syrian territory from Rif Dimashq side to Jaroud Al-Nabi Shet. The strikes also targeted Ali Al-Nahri town and Hermel city on the Syrian-Lebanese border near Al-Qusayr city in Homs countryside. No causalities were reported.
SOHR documented 95 attacks in 2024: 78 airstrikes and 17 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 185 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 250 combatants and injured 176 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:
• 24 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
• 43 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.
• 28 Iraqi persons.
• 75 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.
• 24 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.
• 54 regime soldiers.
• Two unidentified persons.
In addition, those attacks left 30 civilians, including two children and eight women, dead and nearly 45 other civilians injured.
It is worth noting that one of those attacks killed Baraa Al-Qaterji, a prominent businessman close to Iranians, and his cousin.
The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:
• Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 41 attacks.
• Daraa: 17 attacks.
• Homs: 18 attacks.
• Al-Quneitra: Eight attacks.
• Tartus: Three attack.
• Deir Ezzor: Five attack.
• Aleppo: Two attacks.
• Hama: Two attacks.
• Al-Suwaidaa: One attack.
SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
