Amid dire living conditions | Regime forces impose levies on returnees from Lebanon and arrest 35 others

Regime forces arrested nearly 35 people from areas controlled by the “Autonomous Administration” in north-eastern Syria, on Salamiyah-Al-Tabqa road for “evading mandatory and reserve military service”, after they had crossed the Lebanon-Syria border, fleeing Israeli bombardment.
The arrested people were taken to an unknown destination and their fate remains unknown.
The number of civilians who arrived in areas controlled by the “Autonomous Administration,” coming from Lebanon, has reached 7,703.
According to SOHR sources, regime forces continue to clamp down and extort Syrians returning from Lebanon.
They impose fees of up to 200,000 Syrian pounds on each bus moving Syrians and 200,000 Syrian pounds for each individual wanted for military service.
Meanwhile, those who refuse to pay will be arrested by regime forces, according to a civilian from Al-Raqqah city, who was forced to pay 300000 Syrian pounds to members of the 4th Division checkpoint to return to his area.
Amid these difficult circumstances, the departure from Lebanon to Syria continues, while many are still stranded at the Lebanon-Syria border. They wait anxiously and hopefully to cross into Syrian territory safely, fleeing from war and deadly airstrikes, only to face an uncertain fate in their homeland.
