As part of its violent escalation | Seven members most of them non-Syrians injured in Israeli airstrike on border crossing on Syrian-Lebanese border
Rif Dimashq province: After midnight on Sunday-Monday, Israeli warplanes carried out a new airstrike targeting a building in the vicinity of Yabous crossing in Rif Dimashq on the Syrian-Lebanese border, from the Syrian side, where a violent explosion was heard, which led to the injury of seven members, including five non-Syrians.
The targeted crossing is considered one of the main crossings between the two countries, and tens of thousands of displaced Lebanese and Syrians have entered through it since the beginning of the Israeli escalation on Lebanon. Its targeting comes as part of Israel’s continued violent escalation on the Syrian-Lebanese border to cut off supply routes to the Lebanese “Hezbollah”.
SOHR documented 88 attacks in 2024: 71 airstrikes and 17 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 161 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 221 combatants and injured 164 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:
* 24 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
* 43 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.
* 19 Iraqi persons.
* 59 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.
* 17 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.
* 52 regime soldiers.
* Six unidentified persons.
* Syrian person of Palestinian roots.
In addition, those attacks left 24 civilians, including a little girl and five women, dead and nearly 36 other civilians injured.
It is worth noting that one of those attacks killed Baraa Al-Qaterji, a prominent businessman close to Iranians, and his cousin.
The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:
* Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 38 attacks.
* Daraa: 16 attacks.
* Homs: 20 attacks.
* Al-Quneitra: Eight attacks.
* Tartus: Three attack.
* Deir Ezzor: One attack.
* Aleppo: Two attacks.
* Hama: Four attacks.
SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
