Detention for two years | Young man from Daraa countryside dies under torture in Saydnaya prison

Daraa province: A young man died under psychological and physical torture in Saydnaya prison, after two years of detention.

It is worth noting that the victim hailed from Sha’arah village in Al-Lajat area in Daraa countryside.

Hundreds of thousands of detainees are struggling with tragic situations in regime prisons, as well as torturing and intentional neglect by regime officers who exploit their situation and blackmail their families to collect ransoms.

Since early 2024, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has documented the death of 43 civilians under torture and over poor healthcare in regime prisons and security centres, including a political activist, a university student, a writer, an engineer, an Islamic thinker, a civilian with US nationality and two regime army defectors.
