Following attack targeting individual close to Iranian-backed militias near occupied Syrian Golan | Israeli forces drop leaflets explaining reasons behind the attack

Al-Quneitra province: An Israeli drone attacked a commander close to Iranian-backed militias hailing from Ghadir Al-Bostan town, while he was in Al-Rufaydah town near the border with the occupied Syrian Golan. The man was taken to a hospital in Al-Baath city.

In this context, Israeli forces dropped leaflets today near Al-Rufaydah town in Al-Quneitra countryside in the occupied Syrian Golan.

The leaflets explain the reasons behind attacking “Khattab Al-Khedr,” confirming that he works for Iranian-backed militias in that region.

Earlier today, reliable SOHR sources confirmed that the Israeli strike, which targeted a “Volvo” car at the eastern entrance of Khan Arnabah town on Damascus-Al-Quneitra highway today, left a commander hailing from Al-Ashah village in Al-Quneitra countryside and his escort from the same village dead.

According to SOHR sources, the commander worked for the Lebanese Hezbollah and he was responsible for recruiting Syrians from the region in the ranks of Hezbollah and transporting weapons.

The commander had lived in Sayeda Zeinab area to the south of Damascus, before he returned to Al-Quneitra when he reached sixty.

The attack destroyed the car completely.

SOHR documented 66 attacks in 2024: 49 airstrikes and 17 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 140 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 210 combatants and injured 142 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

  • 24 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

  • 43 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

  • 18 Iraqi persons.

  • 59 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

  • 17 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

  • 46 regime soldiers.

  • Three unidentified persons.

In addition, those attacks left 23 civilians, including a little girl and three women, dead and nearly 36 other civilians injured.

It is worth noting that one of those attacks killed Baraa Al-Qaterji, a prominent businessman close to Iranians, and his cousin.

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 24 attacks.

  • Daraa: 16 attacks.

  • Homs: Ten attacks.

  • Al-Quneitra: Eight attacks.

  • Tartus: Three attack.

  • Deir Ezzor: One attack.

  • Aleppo: Two attacks.

  • Hama: Four attacks.

SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
