IS*IS resurgence | Gunmen attack checkpoint of Internal Security Forces “Al-Asayish” in Deir Ezzor
Deir Ezzor province: Gunmen believed to belong to ISIS attacked a mobile checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces “Al-Asayish” in Al-Sabha Town in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
According to reliable SOHR sources, the gunmen rode motorbikes and opened fire with machineguns on the checkpoint before fleeing to an unknown destination. However, no casualties were reported.
SOHR has documented 189 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks, executions and explosions targeting military and security forces, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 88 fatalities:
54 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.
12 ISIS members.
22 civilians, including a child, a witch and four guards of civil institutions.
These operations are distributed regionally as follows:
Deir Ezzor: 166 attacks left 41 combatants, 16 civilians, including a child and a witch, and eight ISIS members dead.
Al-Hasakah: 13 attacks left seven combatants, four ISIS members and a civilian dead.
Al-Raqqah: Nine attacks left six combatants and five civilians, including four guards of civil institutions of the Autonomous Administration, dead.
Aleppo: One operation left no fatalities.
