Having escaped ten days ago | US intelligence and SDF fail to arrest three ISIS prisoners in Al-Raqqah

Al-Raqqah province: Syrian Democratic Forces, US intelligence service and Internal Security Forces (Asayish) continue searching for three prisoners of ISIS cells, after having escaped ten days ago, while being transported from Al-Matahen prison to another prison in Al-Raqqah city, where they have failed so far to find any of them.

It is worth noting that the International Coalition acknowledged the escape of prisoners from the centre where they were detained, two days after SOHR had published a detailed report about the incident.

The International Coalition also stated that a man collaborating with ISIS was arrested for helping the prisoners to escape from the centre.

It is worth noting that five prisoners of different nationalities managed to escape, while being transported from Al-Matahen prison, before security forces arrested two prisoners of Pakistani and Azerbaijani nationalities.

According to SOHR sources, areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration host 11,600 prisoners of Syrian, Arab, Asian and European nationalities and they are detained in the following eight prisons:

  • Ghuwayran prison in Al-Hasakah.

  • Al-Shaddadi prison in Al-Hasakah.

  • Another prison in Al-Shaddadi.

  • Rumailan prison in Al-Hasakah.

  • Jatin prison in Al-Qamishli.

  • A prison in Al-Raqqah city.

  • Al-Tabaqah prison in Al-Raqqah countryside.

  • A prison in Al-Baghouz area in Deir Ezzor countryside.

SOHR renews its calls for accelerating repatriation of non-Syrian prisoners to their countries in order to be tried, and stresses that relevant countries have to undertake their responsibilities and take back their citizens imprisoned in Syria.

SOHR also calls for bringing Syrian prisoners to the court in order to ensure fair trials.
