Ongoing violations | Military police arrest two civilians and release two others in Afrin for ransoms

Aleppo province: Members of a patrol of the military police arrested, during the past few days, a civilian for “working within institutions of the former Autonomous Administration,” after he had returned back to his hometown from Aleppo, to collect ransoms.
It is worth noting that the civilian hails from Jandiris district in Afrin countryside.

Meanwhile, members of another patrol of military police arrested a civilian from Qarzeihel village in Shirwa district in Afrin countryside, after having returned back to his hometown from Aleppo for “working within institutions of the former Autonomous Administration” to collect ransoms.

On the other hand, the military police and border guards of the “National Army” released two civilians, one of them is from Za’arah village in Bulbul district in Afrin countryside and he was released for a ransom of 5,000 USD, while the other is from Tallaf village in Afrin countryside and he was released for a ransom of 3,000 USD.

On August 24, SOHR sources reported that members of the military police arrested three civilians during a raid in Al-Sena’a neighbourhood in Jandiris district in Afrin countryside for “going out in guard shifts during the control of the Autonomous Administration of Afrin city,” with the aim of collecting ransoms.
