Affected by her injuries | Woman dies following Israeli airstrikes on positions in Homs and Hama countryside

A woman from Sanon village in western Homs countryside died of wounds she sustained on August 23, where she was hit with shrapnel during an attempt by air-defence missiles to intercept Israeli airstrikes that targeted four positions in Homs and Hama countryside, bringing the number of deaths to four people, while ten members of Iranian-backed militias were injured.

The fatalities are as follows:

  • Three Syrian members working for Iranian-backed militias.

  • A woman.

The Israeli airstrikes targeted four positions in Homs and Hama countryside, targeting a weapon depot north western of Hama, the administration of the 47th Brigade and a battery of the air-defence in Ma’arin Mountain, where members of the “Iranian Revolutionary Guards” militia and Syrian and non-Syrian Iran-backed militias are stationed.

Moreover, Israeli forces targeted fuel stores that belong to Syrian members of the Lebanese Hezbollah in western Homs countryside western to Homs refinery, on the road between Safita and Homs Villages near Khirbt Al-Tina, and targeted a another position southern to Ma’arin Mountain, where the head of the Rapid Intervention Squad that is backed by the “Iranian Revolutionary Guards” militia is present.

SOHR documented 60 attacks in 2024: 43 airstrikes and 17 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 124 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 181 combatants and injured 113 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

  • 23 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

  • 37 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

  • 18 Iraqi persons.

  • 47 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

  • 14 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

  • 42 regime soldiers.

In addition, those attacks left 18 civilians, including a little girl and four women, dead and nearly 36 other civilians injured.

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 23 attacks.

  • Daraa: 16 attacks.

  • Homs: Ten attacks.

  • Al-Quneitra: Six attacks.

  • Tartus: Three attack.
