Against backdrop of Turkish government intention to reopen Syrian Abu Al-Zandin crossing | Calls to continue “Dignity Sit-in” rejecting Turkish guardianship

Aleppo province: Today, activists renewed their calls to join the sit-in that has been ongoing since the beginning of July under the name “Dignity Sit-in” in Al-Bab city in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, rejecting Turkish guardianship over areas controlled by the “National Army” factions in northern Syria. Hundreds of civilians are participating in the sit-in from the cities of Azaz, Marea, Al-Bab, Afrin and other towns in “Olive Branch” and “Euphrates Shield” regions in Aleppo countryside, demanding the restoration of the military decision and rejecting the rapprochement between the Syrian and Turkish regimes.
Popular demonstrations against the decision to open Abu Al-Zandin crossing, which connects regime-held areas and areas held by the Turkish-backed factions, have reverted, due to its negative consequences, according to what many protesters see, such as the possibility of the entry of car bombs, and the revival of the regime’s economy if commercial activity returns between the two parties, in addition to “drug smuggling”.
Yesterday, the factions prepared a number of commercial trucks in preparation for their entry through the crossing, after Turkey decided to reopen it despite the great popular rejection of this.
Meanwhile, crowded protests erupted yesterday in Al-Bab City in Aleppo countryside within “Euphrates Euphrates” areas near Sentar Square against the opening of Abo Al-Zandin Crossing that connects between “Euphrates Shield” areas and regime-held areas, where the protesters chanted “Opening of the crossing is entry of weapons” expressing their rejection to this step, while some activists condemned the opening of the crossing without an agreement that guarantees the release of thousands of prisoners in regime prisons.
