Amid growing tension | Infighting among cousins leaves two persons dead and five others injured in eastern Deir Ezzor
Deir Ezzor province: Violent clashes with light weapons erupted among cousines from Al-Ekaydat tribe in Theban town in eastern Deir Ezzor. The clashes left two persons dead and five others injured, amid a state of growing tension and escalating security disorder. Meanwhile, residents appealed to elders and dignitaries to interfere and break up the clashes.
Accordingly, the number of infightings which followed disputes over retaliation and family and tribal disagreements in areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration has reached 70 since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these infightings left 39 people, including two women and two children, dead and 136 others injured; they are distributed regionally as follows:
- Deir Ezzor: 48 infightings left 14 persons, including a child and a woman, dead and 85 others, including a little girl, injured.
- Al-Raqqah: Eight infightings left 14 people, including a child, dead and 23 others injured.
- Aleppo: Six infightings left four civilians dead and 16 others, including an Asayish member, injured.
- Al-Hasakah: Eight infightings left seven persons, including a woman and an Asayish member, dead and 12 others injured.
