Following dispute over priority to water farmlands | Person killed and another injured in makeshift camp in Al-Raqqah

Al-Raqqah province: A man was stabbed to death with a sharp tool and another was injured in Hazimah camp in Al-Raqqah countryside in SDF-controlled areas following a dispute over priority to water farmlands. Local authorities interfered and expelled individuals involved in this dispute from the camp and took the injured person to hospital.

It is worth noting that Al-Raqqah countryside hosts makeshift camps accommodating displaced people from different Syrian provinces, while Hazimah makeshift camp is inhabited by tens of displaced families, mostly from Deir Ezzor city and countryside.

The Syrian Observatory has documented 61 murder crimes in SDF-controlled areas since early 2024, where domestic violence and armed robbery were behind some of these murders, while motivations behind the others remained unknown. These murders left 64 civilian fatalities, including seven children and eight women; they are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Al-Hasakah: 20 civilians, including two children and three women.

  • Deir Ezzor: 24 civilians, including two children and three women.

  • Al-Raqqah: 17 civilians, including three children and two women.

  • Aleppo: Four men; three men in Manbij and a man in Ain Al-Arab (Kobani).
