Demanding council elected by people | People stage sit-in protest in front of the local council building in northern Aleppo countryside

Aleppo province: Dozens of people staged a sit-in protest today in front of the local council building in Ekhtareen town in northern Aleppo countryside, protesting the appointment of a president of the council without fair elections. The protesters closed the building expressing their rejection of the decision, holding the interim government responsible for obstructing the town’s institutions. The protesters demand a council elected by the people, not imposed by fiat.

On May 28, SOHR sources reported that the Local Council in Al-Bab City announced the increase of price of a bread bundle of weight of 500 Grams to five Liras from four Liras in Al-Bab City.

This resolution was followed by major public discontent against the Interim Government and the Local Council, while another resolution was issued that cables would be sold in Al-Bab City and its countryside.
