Following agreement between UN and Lebanese authorities | Fears for security and safety of Syrian refugees opposed to regime in Lebanon

Yesterday, United Nations and Lebanese authorities reached an agreement that the United Nations would hand over the lists of Syrian refugees’ data in Lebanon to the Lebanese authorities, which is very dangerous for the future and lives of the refugees there, as these data will be leaked to the Lebanese Hezbollah which will hand it over to the Syrian regime.
According to SOHR sources, fears are doubled among people opposed to the Syrian regime in the Lebanese territory, that their complete personal data and their place of residence in Lebanon, will reach to the Syrian regime through the Lebanese Hezbollah.
Accordingly, SOHR warns of the seriousness of this agreement, holds responsibility for the safety and security of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, particularly those who are opposed to the regime, to the UN and the Lebanese authorities and demands the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the refugees.
Syrian Observatory has previously warned against the continued disregard for the file of the Syrian refugees, whom the Lebanese authorities are seeking to return, affirming that such steps would escalate the tension of the Syrian situation and increase the depth of the tragedy.
