Including no foodstuffs | US forces deliver aid to besieged civilians in Al-Rukban camp

Reliable SOHR sources have confirmed that no foodstuffs have been delivered to the besieged camp of Al-Rukban, except “yeast” which is used for making bread.

According to SOHR sources, US forces delivered packs of aid to a warehouse in Al-Rukban camp, where the aid was confined to agricultural seeds, yeast, rolls of hoses and whiteboards for students.

The inhabitants of Al-Rukban camp need urgent medical supplies and foodstuffs in light of the siege imposed by regime checkpoints which allow trucks carrying goods to the camp to cross only after taking large sums of money. Accordingly, only small amounts of goods are smuggled to the camp and sold there for very high prices, as regime forces take shares of revenue from smugglers in return for turning a blind eye to smuggling operations.

Al-Rukban camp, which is located in the 55 kilometre de-confliction zone, accommodates hundreds of very poor families who are struggling with acute shortage of essentials, including water, food and medical supplies, as the camp is besieged by Russian and regime forces and Iranian-backed militias.

The U.S. Department of Defence announced its support through Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) to transport aid to Al-Rukban camp on a space-available basis through the Denton Program on U.S. military aircraft already traveling to Al-Tanaf Garrison as part of ongoing operations.

The Syrian Emergency Task Force (SETF) operating in the camp has been tasked with distributing aid supplies, which are supposed to contain agricultural equipment, cloths educational supplies, food and medical supplies, to the camp’s inhabitants.
