Amid locals’ appeals to break up clashes | Tribal infighting leaves civilian dead in rural Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that a civilian died of the wounds he had sustained today during a tribal infighting with light and medium weapons between gunmen from Al-Kabisah tribe and others from Al-Mushahdah tribe in the SDF-controlled town of Al-Sabha in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. Meanwhile, tension is growing in the area, amid appeals by locals to tribal dignitaries to interfere and break up the clashes.

 

Earlier today, SOHR sources reported that violent armed clashes erupted between people of Al-Kabisah and Al-Mshahdah tribes, over a quarrel between residents from both tribes what led to clashes in which light and medium weapons were used, in Al-Sabha town within SDF-held areas in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, amid appeals by the residents for the notables of the tribes and security authorities in the area to intervene for breaking the ongoing clashes and resolving the dispute between both tribes.

 

Accordingly, the number of infightings which followed disputes over retaliation and family and tribal disagreements in areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration has reached 75 since early 2023. According to SOHR statistics, these infightings left 45 people, including two children and two women, dead and 96 others, including six women and three children, injured; they are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Deir Ezzor: 58 infightings left 27 people, including two children and two women, dead and 63 others, including five woman and two children, injured.

 

  • Al-Hasakah: Seven infightings left six persons dead and 11 others injured, including a child and a woman.

 

  • Al-Raqqah: Seven infightings left nine persons dead 22 others injured.

 

  • Aleppo countryside: Three infightings left three persons dead.
