Insufficient humanitarian assistance | Alarming humanitarian crises hit NW Syria following devastating earthquake

Residents in areas controlled by the “Salvation Government” in north-west Syria are struggling with considerable humanitarian crises following the violent earthquake which hit different Syrian territory on February 6. SOHR sources have reported acute lack of tents on markets, because of the increasing demand, especially after the collapse of the houses of many civilians who have been recently staying in the open.

Although 95 humanitarian organisations and local initiatives have been providing assistance to people affected by the earthquake, the situation in north-west Syria remains catastrophic and out of control.

Areas controlled by the “Syrian Interim Government” in Aleppo countryside are suffering from similar situation and crises.

This coincides with the arrival of assistance to areas controlled by the “Salvation Government” and the “Syrian Interim Government,” where assistance provided by Qatar was delivered to in the past hours, via Bab Al-Hawa crossing.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that a convoy with the name of “Here Syria” carrying humanitarian aids, crossed Awn Al-Dadat crossing in Manbij countryside towards “Euphrates Shield” area, and it comprised 75 trucks provided by residents of Al-Hasakah, Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqa and eastern Aleppo countryside to rescue the affected areas in north western of Syria.

According to reliable SOHR sources, contents of the convoy will be distributed on those affected by the earthquake and not on fighters and faction members.

Meanwhile, local sources reported that the Military Police and the local councils in areas held by Turkish-backed factions took over the process of distributing aids provided by institutions and local organizations.
