Amid efforts to normalise relations between Ankara and Damascus | Turkish forces ki*ll 32 regime soldiers and officers in two months

With the frequent reports of rapprochement between Ankara and Damascus and efforts to normalise relations gradually between the two sides through Russian-sponsored meetings, Turkish forces continue their attacks on regime forces, kill more soldiers and officers.

 

Since the beginning of the latest military escalation by Turkish forces in SDF-controlled areas and areas where Kurdish and regime forces are deployed on November 19, 2022, SOHR activists have documented the death of 23 regime soldiers and officers by Turkish forces. The fatalities are distributed as follows: 18 killed in airstrikes by Turkish fighter jets, five killed in drone attacks and nine killed in bombardment by ground forces.

 

According to SOHR statistics, 28 members of regime forces were killed by the Turks in November, and they are as follows:

 

• 22 members were killed in areas where Kurdish and regime forces are deployed in northern Aleppo: 12 killed in airstrikes by Turkish fighter jets, five killed in drone attacks and five killed in bombardment by ground forces.

 

• Six members were killed in SDF-controlled areas, all killed in airstrikes by Turkish fighter jets: four killed in Um Harmal village in north-western Al-Hasakah and two killed in Qaz’ali village in Tel Abyad countryside in northern Al-Raqqah.

 

While in December, a regime soldier was killed in artillery and rocket  attacks by Turkish forces on a regime military post in Samouqah village in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.

 

Similarly, in January, three members of regime forces, including a major general, were killed in an attack by Turkish forces on their position in Mayassah village in Afrin countryside, in north-western Aleppo.

 

It is worth noting that 44 regime soldiers and officers were killed in attacks by Turkish forces in 2022; they are distributed as follows:

 

• 19 members were killed in SDF-controlled areas: 17 killed two killed in airstrikes by Turkish fighter jets and two killed in bombardment by ground forces.

 

• 25 members were killed in areas where Kurdish and regime forces are deployed in northern Aleppo: five killed in drone attacks and eight killed in bombardment by ground forces.

 

It is worth noting that regime forces took no serious action to react to the aerial and ground attacks by Turkish forces.
