Collecting ransoms/money | Turkish-backed factions arrest civilians and impose levies in Afrin

Aleppo province: SOHR sources have reported that members of a military police patrol arrested two civilians, on March 22, from Kamrouk village in Maabatli district for unknown reasons.

Meanwhile, members of the Turkish-backed Liwaa Al-Waqqas arrested a civilian in Anqalah village in Sheikh Hadeed district for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration,” asking for a ransom.

Moreover, the courthouse in Afrin city has imposed a levy of an estimated 1,500 TL on five civilians in Ma’mal Ushaghi village in Raju district in return for not arresting them again by the military police, where these civilians had been arrested nearly three months ago for “dealing with the former Autonomous Administration,” and they were released after paying 3,000 TL each.

SOHR sources reported earlier today that SOHR activists reported that members of military police patrol had carried out large-scale security campaign in Shadira village in Sherawa district in Afrin countryside in the past days, arresting six civilians for “performing military service during the former Autonomous-Administration control of Afrin,” in order to collect ransoms. Members of military police released two men for a ransom of 5,000 Turkish liras on Wednesday.
