Syrian desert | Over 100 Russian airstrikes hit ISIS positions in 48 hours, while regime forces continue combing operations
SOHR sources reported that Russian jets executed more than 100 airstrikes on ISIS positions in the Syrian desert, along with deployment of troops affiliated to regime forces and Russian-backed militias along Al-Raqqah Salamiyyah highway in Hama desert.
On the other hand, regime forces are continuing combing operations in the Syrian desert, from east Hama countryside to Al-Raqqah and Deir Ezzor provinces, amid fierce clashes with ISIS.
Yesterday, reliable SOHR sources confirmed that ISIS members attacked a bus and several other cars on Damascus-Al-Raqqah highway, near Wadi Al-Ozayb area, while they were coming from Damascus. The attack resulted in the death of 12 regime soldiers and three civilians, including a little girl, as well as the injury of more than 16 others, including four civilians.
On December 30, SOHR sources reported a well-planned ambush by Islamic State members, targeting three buses carrying pro-regime militiamen and soldiers of the 4th Division in al-Shula desert on Homs-Deir Ezzor road, which claimed the lives of 39 regime-backed militiamen and injured others.
