The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

The news circulated by Russian media outlets about the entry of the Russians to Al-Raqqah city is completely false

Reliable sources have confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the news circulated by Russian media outlets about a Russian patrol roaming in the city of Al-Raqqah is not true, where the Russian patrols’ tours in this area are limited only to the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah, and no patrol has ever entered the city.

It is worth noting that the Russians run patrols in Ayn Issa area and other areas north of the city of Al-Raqqah, where Russia has a military base in Ayn Issa.

SOHR monitored, on Saturday, a new stage of joint patrols between the Russian forces and their Turkish counterparts, where a joint patrol was conducted between the both parties on Al-Hasakah – Aleppo Highway known as “M4”.

The 13th patrol was launched from Laylan village which is under control of the factions of “National Army”, to Alya Silos where the Russians were deployed days ago, to the west of Tal tamr town at the International Highway, and the patrol ended at Ghibish village, where the Turkish forces returned to Laylan, while the Russian forces continued their way to Al-Qamishli Airbase.

This is the first time for a patrol to run in areas beyond SDF control and not located near the border strip with Turkey.

In the same context, SOHR monitored this morning, a large Russian patrol heading from Ayn Issa area towards the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah, accompanied by Russian helicopters flying over the area.
