SOHR Documents death of 300 people due to the regime siege of some areas in Syria

SOHR could document death of 313 civilians since the beginning of this year until 12/26/2014 who were killed due to lack of food and medicines because the regime the regime troops have imposed a blockade on areas in the provinces of Damascus, Rif Dimashq, Homs and Daraa.

The death toll includes 101 children and 34 women; most of them died in the Eastern Ghota that have been under a siege since a year and half.

Although that UN Council has unanimously adopted in 22/2/2014 a resolution number 2139 that demands all parties especially the Syrian authorities to allow the humanitarian agencies of UN  and its executive partners to arrive to those people who are in need quickly, safely and without any obstacles through the lines of conflict and cross-border but the Syrian regime has still imposed a blockade on several areas specially the Eastern Ghota which is inhabited by thousands of people in a defiance of Security Council resolution number 2139.

The continual of siege of areas in Syria especially the Eastern Ghota and neighborhood of al- Waer in Homs city in considered a war crime according to international rules because the regime forces repeats committing this crime systematically.

We, in SOHR, are going to continue demanding UN council to send the file of crimes and crimes against humanity committed against Syrian people to the International Criminal Court because it is very shame on the countries which paying lip- service to defend human rights to block sending this file to the relevant international justice giving green light to those who commit such crimes to continue their crimes against Syrians. We also ask the two organizations of Red Crescent and Red Cross as well as all international relief organizations which are able to work inside Syria to let in all food and medical supplies to all besieged areas.
