The regime security forces arrest a doctor who was born in the regime’s jails 26 years ago.

SOHR knew that the security forces has still detained Dr Maria Bahjat Sha’bo since Sunday in November 2. She was arrested on the Lebanese- Syrian border when she was coming back with the 2 activists Jdayye’ Nofal and Omar al- Sha’ar on charge of participation in a workshop about human rights in Beirut, however those who are close to her informed SOHR that she was in Beirut to visit her mother who went to Beirut in order to participate in a medical conference.

It is worth mention that Maria’s mother gave birth to her baby girl inside the regime’s jails after arresting her in 1988 on charge of belonging to the Communist Labor Party. As well as, her father Dr Bahjat Sha’bo was arrested for the second time in 1992 on charge of belonging to the same party.

We in SOHR call upon the United Nations to put pressure on the Syrian regime to release the doctor and 200000 other detainees from the regime’s cellars as well as to release the political opponents and defenders of human rights, including Abdul Aziz al- Khayyer, Khalil Ma’toq, Husein Eso, Bassam Sahyoni and Mazen Darwish, where we are afraid of torturing them to death like thousands of detainees.
