BERLIN – Talks between Prime Minister of the Syrian Opposition Interim Government, Ahmed Tomah and the German Foreign Minister Steinmeier and the Chairman of the Human Rights Committee in the Federal Parliament took place in Berlin on Wednesday.

Tomah described the meeting with German Foreign Minister Steinmeier as very transparent and honest, and stated that “We formulated our thoughts about the political solution on the conflict in Syria.”

Tomah, who was currently with a delegation of ministers in Berlin, told Anadolu Agency that “We also had a serious and honest conversation with the advisor of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. We explained our views about the possibility of a third round of negotiations. We made ??it very clear that we want a fair and political solution in the Syrian conflict. By contrast, the Assad Regime is not interested in a political solution. They follow the slogan, “Either Assad stays or we burn the country down.”

He pointed out that the delegation were trying to achieve legal recognition of the state of Syria in their capacity as representatives of the Syrian people, and added that they were cautiously optimistic in the way that they were received in Germany.

“In the end we do not want the regime-government (of Assad) to be the representative of the Syrian people, but rather we will be the only representative of the Syrian people,” he stated.

Tomah thanked Turkey for their political and charitable support, “I would like to thank the Turkish people and the Turkish government. They have done a lot for the Syrians, and still do.”

He reiterated that Turkey’s advice to participate in the negotiations in Geneva was very wise. “During the negotiations in Geneva, we have shown that we want a political solution and that the regime has no interest in a political solution on the conflict,” Tomah said.

Tomah also said, “The IHH (Humanitarian Relief Foundation) and the Turkish Crescent have done alot so far for the Syrian refugees, and we hope that this help will increase.”
