Fighting continues around the Syrian capital

The Syrian military on Monday (December 10th) shelled several towns near the capital as clashes continued around Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said

“A fighter bomber carried out a raid on Daraya as rebels and soldiers fought on the ground, while artillery bombed Moadamiyet al-Sham,” said the Observatory, referring to two towns south of Damascus.

The Britain-based group said the air force also overflew eastern Ghouta, another area where rebels set up rear bases, it said.

The Observatory also reported clashes and bombardment in the northwestern Aleppo and Homs provinces and in Deir Ezzor to the east, where at least one rebel was killed.

Al-Watan newspaper, a pro-regime paper, reported that soldiers attacked gunmen in the Tadamon and Hajar Aswad districts of southern Damascus, “killing or wounding dozens of them”.
